Film and Video Project – The Norwegian Opera
The Art Committee for the New Opera House has engaged two artists Bodil Furu and Trine Lise Nedreaas to create new work. Each artist will produce a project, based upon the people and the culture associated with The Norwegian Opera and The Norwegian National Ballet during the course of the last 50 years, when the two companies were housed in Folketeaterbygningen (The People’s Theatre in Oslo).
The artists’ task is to capture and conserve something of the atmosphere, history and distinctive culture that developed in this building.
The artists are at liberty to choose their own materials, techniques and angle of approach.
The Art Committee expects the process to result in autonomous art videos/video installations, which will be presented in the context of an art space that is not directly linked to the New Opera Building itself.
Bodil Furu born 1976, has made a number of films using the documentary genre in both traditional and experimental ways. Her films explore social structures and are often based upon everyday experiences and phenomena.
